I was thrilled to receive a picture showing Wenjie smiling on stage as his title slide caught the machine learning crowd off guard at the 2018 Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition conference in Salt Lake City - the premier annual computer vision event. In an otherwise less colourful series of presentations, these slides had serious staying power in the audience members’ minds. They boldly underlined the potential of the research at Uber Advanced Technologies Group with custom still and motion graphics to best visually convey their unique approach. Their presentation definitely stood head-and-shoulders above the crowd that day and for days after.
